Elements

Work Process Diagrams, RASI Tables, eLearning and more.

We hear comments like these every day from manufacturers:

“We’ve got assets that are aging fast and we need to take better care of them.”

“Our continuous improvement efforts are failing because we don’t have stable, reliable systems.”

“Our lack of documented procedures is putting our operations at risk.”

“Our folks are retiring every day and their knowledge is walking out the door.”

“Keeping up with training new employees is a real challenge and we don’t do it consistently.”

“There are some things that we do differently at each of our sites even though we use the same type of equipment. We don’t even measure things the same way – so we can’t compare how everyone’s doing.”

“My people are too busy to work on developing standard procedures. And I sure can’t afford to hire outside experts to develop them.”

It is difficult, expensive and time-consuming for manufacturers to research best practices and then capture them in a way that will be applied consistently across one or more manufacturing sites.

But without reliability-centric standard practices, companies experience unnecessary downtime, miss out on performance gains, and risk health and safety issues.

Benefits of using Atlas

With the Atlas online platform you can:

  • Reduce the time to develop standard work based on best practices, so you can reach your performance goals (like reducing maintenance costs and improving OEE) faster.
  • Build standard work across your entire organization so that work is planned, executed and measured the same way on every line at every site.
  • Create editable Word, Excel and Visio files for standard work and processes which reflect your unique business requirements as well as industry best practices.
  • Onboard your next cohort of new employees faster with clear expectations for their roles and responsibilities.
  • Provide just-in-time, self-paced online training so you can easily reach geographically dispersed teams, and achieve a consistent enterprise-wide vocabulary and knowledge baseline.

Atlas Elements

Work streams are visually illustrated in diagrams at the macro level to show how all work processes within an operation are interrelated, as well as at the micro level to very precisely guide each activity in sub-processes.
A responsibility assignment matrix, also known as a RASI matrix or linear responsibility chart, describes the participation by various roles in completing tasks or deliverables for a project or business process. It is especially useful in clarifying roles and responsibilities in cross-functional/departmental projects and processes. RASIs define who is Responsible, Accountable, Support, and Informed for each sub-process in each work stream
If the work streams are the recipe, the tools and templates included with Atlas are the pots and pans you need to make the meal. Each work process includes detailed spreadsheets complete with auto-calculation fields and instructions to make the execution of best-practice work processes as straight-forward as possible.
eLearning courses integrate relevant content and decades of best-practice benchmarking in performance-driven, self-paced online solutions. The courses are designed by certified learning professionals who are also maintenance and reliability professionals (CMRP, CRL) and developed by a team of eLearning specialists using cutting-edge eLearning approaches.

Available courses include:

  • Maintenance Planning and Scheduling (eMPS)
  • Reliability Centered Maintenance (eRCM)
  • Maintenance, Repair and Operations (eMRO)

Coaching cards are a simple tool to help identify whether employees understand and implement specific processes and/or training. Coaching cards analyze a position (not a person) through activities, reports, documents, and results, for the purpose of identifying the challenges and successes of change. Using this process you can observe organizational change in action and address issues in a timely manner; without it, old habits could continue to go unnoticed.
